Adoni
is a multilingual area. A good percentage of the Population speaks Hindi. So,
to cater to their needs and to promote Hindi, as it happens to be the national
language, the Department of Hindi was established on 27th, June
1962. It is imparting quality higher education. The Department has produced a
large number of meritorious graduates since its inception.
Dr.A.Kamalnath“Pankaj” was the first Head of the department of
Hindi. Later, he was elevated to the post of the Principal in the year 1987 and
he retired in the year 1996. Dr. A. Kamlnath “Pankaj” was a well-known personality in Hindi Literature.
He translated many novels from Kannada to Hindi. One such novel is “Billie Ki Ankhen” (BEKKINA KANNU). He also translated “BHAGAVAD
GEETHA” from Sanskrit to Hindi at the behest of T.T. Devasthanam,
Tirupathi. Several articles written by him were
published in “DHARMA YUG”, a Hindi National Magazine.

At present, Department Hindi has a
single regular faculty.
Departmental Associations
June 27, 1962 Hindi Association “HINDI BHASHA SAMITHI” was formed. The
Principal of the college is the Ex-officio President of all the college
Associations. The lecturer in charge of the Department is the Vice-President of
the Association.
Every year the principal nominates
one student as student Representative to the Association. The Association
undertakes a number of activities related to academics, as well as
competitions. These Associations not only help in bringing out the hidden
talents of the students of the Department but also help in developing new
trends in terms of acquiring knowledge about personality development, self
grooming etc. Under its aegis Elocution and Essay - Writing competitions are
conducted.
National Seminar
A UGC Sponsored two day National
Seminar in Hindi was held in September 13 & 14, 2008.Delegates from
different parts of India attended the seminar. |
