Since the inception of our college in the
year 1962, the Department of Economics made its mark with its up and coming
approach to the teaching of Economics at the degree as well as Pre-university
course level.
Since then, there is no
looking back for the department in its academic achievements and goal setting
approach. This has been amply reflected
in the burgeoning number of students from year to year, ever since its inception
under the aegis of Professor A. Chandra Mouli.

swelled to five members, interacting with roughly 1200 students every year.

Planning Forum
The Department conducts number of interactive
discussions in the subject by way of conducting number of essay writing and
elocution competitions. Planning forum
was started in the year 1964 on the advise of the S.V. University Authorities,
with the sole aim of involving the students at the college level to think,
discuss and to analyze the contemporary
economic issues and their impact on the General Public in general and the
student community in particular. Some of
the essays by the students were rewarded by the planning forum. We are happy to inform that our college is
one of the few designated colleges in the country to conduct “A. D. SHROFF
MEMORIAL ELOCUTION COMPETITIONS” every year under the auspices of Forum of Free
Enterprise, Mumbai.
Activities:
We have one of the biggest market yards in
Andhra Pradesh. Adoni is the business hub of Rayalaseema particularly in the field of commercial crops like Cotton, Groundnut and
Sunflower. Villagers from the surrounding districts and even from Karnataka
come to Adoni Market yard for sales and purchase operations.
So the department felt that it would be good
idea to conduct some surveys by our students in the market yard. This was a
multi purpose operation. It was meant to expose the students to the market
structure and also develop in them the necessary aptitude and skills for their
future research projects after they complete their P.G. courses. This was a
resounding success.
